Clitoris

The king of pleasure, even though we prefer to call it the queen – for obvious reasons, women have it -, the clitoris is the sole organ that exists for the purpose of giving us pleasure. It took centuries to give it the right attention, and to be fair, we are not there yet. Since the ancient romans we read about clitoris and this pleasurable area but, its story has been very controversial, at a point where, in 1948 it also disappeared from the Gray’s Anatomy manual. Luckily, in 1998 – after we went on the moon – we finally discovered the real shape of the clitoris! It’s way more than just a little nod. It’s a powerful organ shaped like a flower. The nod is just the tip of the iceberg, medically known as the gland of the clitoris. It maybe anything from 0.5 to 3.5cm long, but mostly it is covered by a little hood, the only visible part of the clitoris. Internally, there is a shaft that splits into to legs (known as corpus cavernosum) located beneath the labia. Between these parts, there are also two extra bodies, made of erectile tissue, called the bulbi vestibuli. The bulbi surround the vaginal and urinary openings. Beside its gorgeous structure, the clitoris has 8000 nerves and erectile functions if stimulated, it allows us to have multiple orgasms and extends for approximately 8cm. The clitoris is the organ that brings women to climax. It exists for that exact purpose. Long live the queen.
