Guide to Your Eco Period
Every year, on the 22nd of April, we celebrate World Earth Day; dedicated to the protection and safeguard of the environment. It is a reminder that we can all make a difference. Change can start today; by improving our daily routines, lazy habits and poor choices, we can positively impact our environment.

When we choose new products, we consider the environmental effects just as much as health.
Disposable pads and tampons are polluting the environment but periods today can be more sustainable. There are many reasons why we make our choices on period support and no one should be judged for it.
Sadly, not all of us have a choice or the access to a basic human need. Which is why, in October 2020, we launched a fundraising campaign called “period poverty” (if you want more information about the project, feel free to read our dedicated page).
For anyone wanting to approach their period in a more conscious and sustainable way, here’s our guide to going-green on your period!
Period-proof underwear
We launched period-proof underwear back in October 2019 and continually get enthusiastic feedback from our clients. Mostly described as “revolutionary” and “game-changing”.
This special kind of underwear is made of 100% organic cotton and has a patented fabric that absorbs menstrual blood for up to 8 hours. There are many different models and levels of absorbency. This year, we also have a line for the younger generation that are sparkly and colourful.
It’s super comfy and perfect for anyone who prefers not to use anything inside their vagina, or get irritation with pads. If you don’t like the idea of hand-washing them, you can put them in the washing machine!

Menstrual cups
Menstrual cups were invented at the beginning of the 20th century, but only grew fame in the past 10 years. It’s likely the first solution to demonstrate a “more green” period. Depending on its model, it has the capacity to collect blood for up to 12 hours, and if you take good care of it, it can last up to 5 years.
As it is worn internally, it’s not an option for everyone. It’s not suitable for people who are not familiar with their own body, people who have frequent vaginal infections, people who suffer from pelvic/intimate pain or people who are not comfortable in using an “invasive” solution.
You can read our guide for choosing your first menstrual cup here.
Organic pads and reusable tampon applicators
One of the latest arrivals on our platform has been TOTM, a UK brand that produces biodegradable pads, tampons and liners made of certified organic cotton, without fragrance or deodorants. They are individually wrapped in biodegradable, compostable biofilm and packed in a cardboard box. All the packaging is recyclable.
TOTM is perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to stop using disposable support. It allows you to use pads, tampons and liners that respect your body without toxic ingredients while protecting the environment. It’s not expensive either; a pack of TOTM pads is the same price as a normal box of pads. Not bad, huh?
We are also very proud to introduce another revolutionary product: the reusable tampon applicator. You can wash and use your tampon applicator multiple times! Combining it with the TOTM organic biodegradable tampons, you are disposing of one piece of waste instead of two. Discover its features here.
Dealing consciously and “ecologically” with your period, for those who can, is something that really impacts our planet. On average, people menstruating produce up to 100 billion non-recyclable pieces of plastic waste every year. With tampon applicators being the fifth most common item found in european beaches!
We hope this encourages you to look into more sustainable choices that best compliments your body and lifestyle. Stay tuned, for more exciting products, that will be launching very soon.
