Anal play has been around long before Western Civilization existed. Insertable toys were a more modern invention and originally designed for therapeutic use.

However, today we can choose from a great range of products specifically designed for anal play, to make for the most pleasurable experience possible.
I’m about to give you some tips on how you can use different kinds of anal toys - alone or with a partner(s) - to experience new sensations and maybe try something new.
Before going deeper - excuse the pun - into anal play, it’s important to remember what yours, or your partner’s, boundaries are when it comes to sex. If you’ve never tried anal toys before, you might not know the ins and outs, so we encourage everybody to talk about anal play before and after experiencing it, to get a sense of one’s limits.
Make sure:
- you have a good body-safe lube, as you’ll need it.
- you are prepared for a bit of mess, because it might happen.
It’s normal. If it’s your first experience with anal play, you may want to try it alone. I’d suggest, once you get into the right mood, first trying to stimulate and train the anus to relax and expand using your fingers or a small butt plug.

Anal Plug
You can wear the plug during masturbation, or in couple play use it during foreplay to prepare the anus for other forms of penetration, or just to enjoy the feeling of fullness. Anal plugs come in different shapes and materials; if you are a beginner, it is better to start with a medical grade silicone one and then progress onto an anal plug made from either ceramic or stone or wood. The harder the material of the plug, the more intense the stimulation will be on the anus’ nerves.
Some anal plugs will also have a vibration function. If that’s the case, you’ll experience the power of the vibrations through to your prostate gland or clit - at a certain point the clitoris bulbs are close to the anus area. You may want to use vibrating anal plugs throughout the entire sexual experience, as the vibrations provide deeper stimulation, especially with the option to change the vibration settings using a remote control!
Anal Beads
Anal beads are great to enhance masturbation, as they can give you truly mind-blowing orgasms. The tip here is to insert the balls into the anus and, as your excitement grows, slowly extract a few balls. When you are close to reaching climax, quickly withdraw the remaining balls. Feel free to also incorporate it into foreplay with a partner, or even just have your partner watching you.

Pegging
Let’s discuss pegging. If your partner is eager to try role play, you may want to as well. You can use strap-on dildos or a harness-free toy, depending on your preferences and your level of expertise with anal play.
Remember, it’s important to warm-up first with foreplay - like rimming or playing with a butt plug - before using a strap-on dildo to penetrate your man or before he (double) penetrates you. Full anal penetration can be extremely pleasurable for both partners, if it’s taken step by step and slowly to ease the receiver into the process.

Anal Dildo or Vibrator
You can also use a dildo with a large base to stimulate your man’s prostate gland. If that’s the case, I would suggest you ask him to guide you to the point where you can rub the toy against his prostate gland, if you haven’t already discovered it through finger stimulation.
Anal stimulation that you and your partner are comfortable with is personal. What matters is that you both enjoy the journey in exploring anal stimulation and pleasure.
